Adorable new blog

The creators of this adorable blog came over here to give me a really sweet comment on my Knobby Shutter Coat Rack post.

Well, when someone leaves me a comment, I have to check them out!  Obviously they have good taste if they came to visit me.  (Yeah right!)

I found this when I clicked over and just had to follow them!

How cute is that scarf?!  Love it!

Well, anyway, I want you to head over to Trains, Bows and Two Cosmos.

They are having a giveaway all this week and they don't have a ton of followers yet, so the odds are ever in your favor.  (Sorry...can you name that book?)

Check them out!

Thanks for stopping by!

Old Garage Clean-Up

Remember the basement demo we did?

Well, I can't seem to forget.  I keep putting off cleaning it up.

I know I need to.  I don't wanna!

But I gotta!

So, here are before pictures.  Not anything like the death trap...but still scary!

After grabbing my face mask...don't want to breathe anything nasty in, and my trusty broom, gloves and shop vac I got busy.  It was very, very dusty.  Everything upstairs has a nice coat of sheet rock dust on it again!  Yay!

I got it done in a little over an hour and a half.  I didn't think that was too bad.  Considering I had to take a few loads of trash out to the dumpster.

So now, the big reveal.

I still have a ton more to do, but I think it is a really good start!

And check out this trash can full of scraps and dust!

Yikes!

Oh, and I forgot to look up while I was cleaning.

Whoops!  I'll get that next time around!

I'm gonna go clean up now.  I am seriously a hot mess!

See you next time!

Sickness + Paint = Creations

Lil' Sis just recently got over Strep Throat.  We are still on our medicine, but back at school.

Friday we went to the doctors office because Thursday CX got off of the bus to inform me that a little girl that is in Lil' Sis's class has strep.  Great!  Called the doctor first thing Friday.

And of course, she popped positive!  Yay!

Once we got home from that fun trip Lil' Sis was antsy to do something fun.

Okay....done!

I pulled these little guys out of my craft stash.  (You gotta have things like this for them, especially when you are always crafting something!)

Monsters and monkeys!  Great combination for Lil' Sis.

She set work painting these bad boys.  We decided to only do two since we might need them for another sick or creative day.

She's so concentrated on this monkey!  Then she gave up and had momma help.

I couldn't say no.

Here is our monster and monkey!

You can't really tell which one I helped with can you?!

Kinda anal about things...I gotta be more like her and just go with the flow!

Something I am learning to do...going with the flow.

Thanks for being here today!

T-shirt make-over

Our elementary school just started this wonderful program called "Watch D.O.G.S.".  If you haven't heard of it and you have kiddos in school, you should really check it out at Fathers.com.

Basically, it is to present positive male role models in the school systems.

Anyway, Sir was signed up to go in for the day and had his official Watch D.O.G.S. t-shirt to wear.  CX had his and Lil' Sis had hers, except hers was just a bit too big for her little 45" 42 lb. frame.

Had to do something about this.

This is what I started out with.  It was just a plain shirt.  Had to jazz it up a bit.

First step---Cut in half.

Next--Take cute ribbon and pin to edges of top half.

Then sew edges together.  Make sure you pin right sides of shirt and ribbon together.

Next, I couldn't find my elastic thread anywhere!!  I tried to pull thread to make ruffles.  Sewing on number 5 for extra long stitches.  Didn't work so well on the ribbon.  Darn!

So, I had to improvise.  Decided to make pleats instead.  I took a shirt that fit Lil' Sis and used it as a pattern.

After sewing the pleats I turned it right side out and thought that it needed a little something else.

I cut the edges off of the sleeves like this.

Then I took about 6 inches of ribbon and sewed it into a circle like this.

Then I pinned it onto the sleeves where I had cut off the edge.  I had to make a few little pleats along the way since the hole was much bigger than the ribbon.

Sewed right along the edges with a 1/4" seam.

It turned out like this.

This is the final product.  I am still not loving the pleats on the edge of the ribbon.  Still trying to find my elastic thread.  I was wanting it to look more like a tunic.

Lil' Sis loved it and it was so cute with leggings.

If I ever find that thread, I'll fix it to my liking and update this post.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a great day and good health!

Quarantine

Sorry for the lack of posting this week.  I have been busy with MOPS, bowling, home renovation and a sickling.

We have strep in our house, I am praying that none of us get it from Lil' Sis.

I just had it at the first of the year and am not ready for another dose.

I will be back soon, possibly this evening, but I wanted to let you know, we are all alright and are still here.

Thanks for checking in.  See you soon!
