My little Yadi!

I just had to brag about my guy wearing the catcher's attire at baseball practice last night. Isn't he the cutest?! I know, I know...."Mom, you're embarrassing me!" Sorry, that's my job kiddo! He was so excited about it and said that he really enjoyed catching for his teammates.

Their practice went really well, and they all seemed pretty much into the game and what was going on. I know that they don't have real long attention spans right now, but for 5 & 6 year olds they did great!
The siblings of the players seemed to keep themselves busy as well! Playing Ring Around the Rosies and Duck, Duck, Goose. It was so great to see them all getting along and having a good time as well. I am sure practices can get pretty boring for them.

Hitch Hiker

Well, today I had my bi-weekly MOPS meeting and we had a wonderful speaker today. Diane Waisner is a great Christian, Motivational speaker and had a lot of great points about parenting and how if we don't put our faith whole-hearted into God to help raise our kids, then we are doing a disservice to them. I thought that she was wonderful. I know a few were turned off by her, there are a few in the group that are agnostic, but that's okay...they are getting the seed implanted just by being with other christian mothers and hopefully someone else will do a little sowing.
There was a comment that was made by our speaker that ended up becoming quite a debate between my friend, Kendra, Daniel and myself. The speaker was trying to get her point across in how absorbent our children are to everything we say and do and was telling a story about her granddaughter. It went like this, she was traveling somewhere with her granddaughter when they happened to pass a hitch hiker. The granddaughter made a comment about that person and her grandma, Diane, said that she wished that she could help these people, but in today's society, it just isn't safe anymore, but she says a prayer for every hitch hiker that she passes. Apparently, the granddaughter said the same thing a week later to her mom about how she would like to help them, and wanted to say a prayer for them.
Okay, so here comes the debate. Kendra and I had brought this up to our friend, Daniel, after the MOPS meeting and he had a point of view that I never really contemplated before. Kendra and I were saying how we would probably never pick up a hitch hiker, especially when we have our kids with us. Not wanting to put them into a dangerous situation and all. Well, Daniel said, "If God compels you to pick this person up, don't you think that God would take care of you and your family?" Well, then the debate began. Everyone, in my opinion, having valid points, but it ended a little uncomfortably and that was that.
Okay....I know, get to the point already! I called Jeff and explained the conversation to him, and he asked me, "Autumn, have you ever felt compelled to pick up a hitch hiker?" Honestly, I could answer, "No." Then I thought for a minute and remembered a time when a man, his wife and son were broke down on the road next to my house. (It happens ALL the time.) I had just come home from somewhere with my kiddos in the back of the car and he asked me if I could give him a ride to his house just down the road, he had another vehicle there. Without even thinking twice I said sure, (even though I had my kids with me) and we drove him down to his house. He was very nice, didn't say a lot, but was so appreciative.
I never saw him drive back to the broken down car and when I drive down that road that he lives on, I can never find that house of his. But, I guess, you could say, I was compelled by God to help this man and his family out. God did provide for the safety of my children and myself and honestly, I don't know if I would do it again, but I think if it was compelled by God, I wouldn't even think, I would just do.
Any comments on that one?

Soccer days

Today Sis had her second soccer game of the season and was a little bit more timid than the first game, but she did very good at staying with the ball and kicking. I feel so bad for her coach, she doesn't really have any idea of what she is doing, but I don't really think that the girls care as long as they get to play goalie.

I was at Sis's game today and didn't get to see CX's game, but heard that they ended up tying the game and that my son had a major meltdown. Sorry that I missed that one. Apparently, the reason CX had a meltdown was because we were split-up today and he missed his sister's game. (At least, that's what he told me.) We'll just have to wait and see.

Well, it's official. I am going to be coaching Sis's soccer team next week for practice and their game. I am planning on having some drills for the girls to do and hopefully the girls will have fun. I think that they just need a lot of touch time with the ball. They seem to do great at chasing the ball all over the field.

Here is a picture of the "Mean Machine" in action at today's soccer game. She did great, but was pooped out by the end of the third quarter. She really seems to enjoy the game, for now anyway.

Soccer balls

Okay, I know that I just complained earlier today that I have no free time, but I still try to find time to do something crafty once a day. (Regardless of what it is!) So, here I have made soccer balls for CX's soccer game tomorrow. They turned out pretty good, for my first time and all. I went to Bunco earlier this month and the host had these adorable little cupcakes on a stick, well, I had to make them. So I did, and here is how they turned out. I am still in the learning process, but every batch I make I am getting better and better. This is my second batch, but my first attempt at soccer balls. I think they look like them, from far away, anyway!

I made a batch for CX's preschool class. He was the line leader and said that they were a big hit! Duh! It's a cupcake on a stick, how cool is that?!?!?!? Anyway, if you want to know how to make them, check out bakerella's blogspot, http://bakerella.blogspot.com/2008/04/make-your-cupcakes-pop.html. They are super cute, but a little time consuming. Totally worth it, though!

BUSY, BUSY BEE!

Okay....so I know that we all are busy and we all try to do everything, but I am finding that I have less and less time to do the things that I want to do. I was recently talking to my friend, Jenny, when I realized that my life is chaotic! My son is in sports three times a week to practice and once a week, right now, for a game. My daughter is in sports once a week for practice and once a week for a game as well. I am helping her poor soccer coach out by coaching a game for her or two and I feel like I really need to help her out because NO-ONE else is doing it. I know, I am a push over. Then, on top of that, I will be starting to coach t-ball for Sis. Then I bowl on Wednesdays, have MOPS on Tuesdays, and Bible Study on Fridays! AGHGHGH! I know it only seems hectic right now, but when will ever stop? I want my kids to be involved in things, only if they want to. But man o man, do I ever feel like the chauffer.

Good Friday

Okay...so here is the jest of what happened on Good Friday....Autumn was stressed to the max with her family coming over for dinner. Jeff was relaxed and calm as always. CX was a little tense, just because he is like his momma and Sis just wanted to play and could have cared less about anything else. It was good to see Buster and Caren....I don't think that Sis remembered them from before...of course the last time she saw them it was about 3 years ago. CX of course was shy and stand-offish (is that even a word?), until he got warmed up. Then he was ready to go in for the kill. Buster and CX played tennis on the Wii and Buster's Mii was freakin' hilarious! Looks pretty much like him! Jeff smoked ribs all night long the night before, so we had some good vittles for dinner and a DRY ham. Yes, the ham was my doing....I've never baked a ham before, but man o man, you needed a gallon of water to just swallow a bite. It was nice to catch up with everyone, and we didn't have a blow up, so that was a major plus, but I think that everyone was kind of on edge, just because. Johnny and Amanda came out late that evening and missed everyone, but Jeff and I got to visit with them and Johnny got to have some of those good ribs!
This morning, CX had his second soccer game of the season, and I think he really wanted everyone from last night to be there, but hey, what are you gonna do?! You can only control yourself and not the actions of others. He did awesome and scored another goal. He is really getting the hang of it and knows his positions and plays that they have. It is really fun to watch him play, he is so into it! The game ended in a tie, even though you aren't keeping score, the kids still know.
Right now, Jeff is snoring on the couch upstairs, CX and Sis are playing and I am about ready for a nap....I think the kids are too, they are starting to get loud. We all probably need a little rest because we are going to the little birds game today.

first post.....EVER!!!

Okay...after much deliberation and pressure, I have decided to give into this blogger thing and give it a go. I don't really know what I am doing, but I guess I'll just figure it out as I go. And if you are really that interested in my life that you are reading this, then you must know how I am and will forgive me if I don't do something right. Okay...that being said, this is my first post ever, so get your gold stars out because you all have been graced with greatness! Speaking of greatness, I bowl with my mother-in-law and her sister in an all women's league and today we bowled the blind team. Which if you don't bowl, means we didn't have an opponent to bowl against today. Well, my team is so good, that we lost 3 of the 4 games that we played to the blind. Yes, that is a true talent and a testament to how wonderfully my team bowls. If you can do this, than you can do anything, I say. Okay, enough for now. I have to get my house in order for the big Easter dinner that will be had at the Casa on Good Friday. I am sure I will have much to say after that event. Till later, Ta Ta!
